Uniting the local Church to heal our City from homelessness
The San Diego Rescue Mission is a place where your church family will find a variety of ways to serve and help address the needs of our most vulnerable neighbors throughout the County.
Here Christ-followers can use their God-given gifts and talents to live out Jesus’ call to share good news to the poor, provide freedom for the enslaved, and restore sight to those who cannot always see the path before them. That’s why we seek to engage pastors, ministry leaders and volunteers from local churches in every aspect of our ministry to those experiencing homelessness and hunger.

Serve
Share the love of Christ by serving the Rescue Mission as a church body. Serving opportunities vary by location.
Serve On Site
- Host one of our weekly chapel services
- Make hygiene kits and do street outreach
- Help with work projects (sorting, cleaning)
- Host a fellowship event (BBQ, Ice cream social)
- Host an activity for our shelter guests
- Do a project with your small group
- Lead a prayer walk in or around our building
- Serve at one of our holiday meals
- Help decorate for or serve at special events
Serve From Afar
- Hold a donation drive for needed items
- Collect items and assemble I See You hygiene kits
- Make fleece blankets
- Write encouragement cards
- Host a fundraiser
- Become a Walk With Me Friend!
Give
Help us increase our impact by donating financially to the Rescue Mission either from your missions fund, by hosting fundraisers, or by participating in our building improvements initiative. Ask about our All-Star Team!
Learn
Schedule a tour of one of our sites to see God at work. Learn more about our county’s homelessness crisis and hopeful solutions by inviting us to speak at your worship service or special event.
Pray
As a church family, please pray regularly for our students, guests, and all the thousands of families blessed by our food ministry, and those still navigating a difficult life on the streets.

Pastors Homelessness Summits
Twice annually, our CEO Donnie Dee and other key Rescue Mission staff connect in person with County-wide church pastors to provide an update on the state of homelessness in San Diego, brainstorm how the church can be most effective, and present opportunities for your congregation to have an impact.
We close our time together in corporate prayer as we seek to love our city and our neighbors experiencing homelessness through the eyes of Jesus.
